These detectors are shorter than a full-length detector and a lot lighter, making them easier to use for smaller arms and hands. Ideal for a 4-9 year old. 

It has simple controls which are easy to use. They are very good at detecting metal objects so you should have no problems at all finding lots of interesting things at the park, the beach or outside sporting grounds or take on your camping adventures.

If your child enjoys the hobby, then you can consider upgrading to a better detector once they are tall enough (and older).
