Buying a Quality Gold Sluice

Buying a Quality Gold Sluice

Buying a Sluice

In most cases, if the sluice is cheap then that’s how it’s made and runs badly.

Our Tips:

1. Make sure all welding is up to Australian standards.
2. Make sure that all steel is coated for rust resistance. If it is not coated, it will start to rust the first day used.
3. Make sure that it has a balanced handle.
4. Make sure there are enough bolts holding the shoot on to the body of sluice. If not enough bolts you will lose fine gold between shoot and body.
5. Make sure your ribbed matting is attached to the body. If it is not attached you will lose fine gold that goes under matting.
6. Make sure that accessories will fit.
7. Make sure you get a warranty and guarantee on the sluice or you will have no call back at all.
8. The seller and or manufacturer must have a lot of experience in sluicing.

Important
If all the above points are not on the new sluice you’re going to buy, then the manufacturer and retail store do not know how a sluice works well, and you’re being sold a very inferior sluice that will need replacing or repairs often.
Let the buyer beware. We recommend buying an Australian Made Sluice. We used to recommend Crampos but understand these are no longer being made.

The Sluice Settler

The Sluice Setter is for gold miners and prospectors who realize the importance of consistently getting the correct pitch on their sluice box and Miller Table. This varies based on the water volume, water speed, and amount and type of material you run. Once you figure out what pitch keeps all the gold but doesn’t clog up the box, you’ll want to check the pitch every time you reset.

Simple to use with On/Off feature, Hold Button to remember your pitch and a Zero Button to reset to level.

  • Lightweight
  • Water Resistant
  • Accurate
  • Assembled in the USA

Unless you want to lose precious gold right out of your box, get a Sluice Setter, and Set It to Get It!  The SLUICE SETTER is assembled in Leadville, Colorado by a fellow gold miner.

The Sluice Setter comes with batteries, bubble level for setting your zero pitch and makes a great gift for your favorite miner-whether novice or pro!
